Today the letter is E and E is for Erotomania. Erotomania is defined as excessive sexual desire. It can be used to refer to someone who holds a delusion that someone else is in love with her or obsessively attracted to her.
Today I have with me Dr Kevin Boileau, psychoanalyst and philosopher to speak on this topic. Dr Boileau is a Training Analyst & Professor of Psychoanalysis & Phenomenology at Existential Psychoanalytic Institute;
Professor of Psychoanalysis & Critical Theory at Global Center for Advanced Studies; Dr Boileau and I cover Erotomania in the classic sense and also erotomania defined as someone having excessive sexual desire. Dr Boileau spoke about a case and also suggests that perhaps defining high sexual desire as excessive is not helpful. He spoke about finding new terminology to talk about alternative sexual experiences rather than being confined to using psychiatric terminology.
