All talks, workshops and shows that I do have a Q&A at the end. This is likely the most cost effective way to get a question answered directly as long as it is related to the topic of the event and isn’t a detailed question about a relationship situation.
The next most cost effective way if you truly only have one question, is to purchase an answer from my store. You can choose a video HERE response or an email HERE response.
If you want the chance to ask questions as they arise and get personal responses, the next most cost effective way is to join Dr Lori Beth Bisbey’s Private Member Club HERE. There is a 6 month or 12 month commitment. In the club, there is original content, questions are answered as they arise, topics can be requested for content creation and there is one live video per month where questions can be asked and answered live.
If I cannot answer a question because I would need significantly more information, you can book a laser coaching session HERE which is two hours and allows for an in depth look at an issue.
I see some clients for individual therapy and coaching or couples (or more) therapy and coaching. I have very limited spaces. The work is short to medium term. Clients can work with me weekly, intensively (work daily over a short period of time), or have a higher level of access with email contact a few times per week as well as multiple sessions a week when needed by committing to a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month contract. Each of these types of work is suitable for different contexts and different issues. Full details can be found on my private coaching/therapy page HERE. It is worth booking a 30-minute intro session HERE to explore what might work best.
Subscription packages (3, 6 or 12 months) are designed for people who want more access to me and exclusive access and content. Details can be found here https://drloribethbisbey.com/private-coaching/ or book a 30-minute intro session HERE.
I have some subject groups that are time-limited in nature. I have other groups that are more open-ended. Some groups are fortnightly and some are monthly. To find out about current groups, see my groups and workshops page HERE. My VIP group meets fortnightly for 12 months and includes an in-person two night, two-day residential workshop/retreat.
I present online workshops, in person workshops and I speak for a variety of groups on a variety of topics throughout the year. The workshops are interactive and give attendees the space to work on issues with me during the event.
A two-hour laser session is useful if there is one area that a person or couple or group want to work on.
You can join my Private Member’s Club HERE and get questions answered in the group, exclusive content, offers, and a once-per-month live video presentation. There is a 6-month or 12-month commitment and this is the most cost-effective way of connecting with me regularly.
I have a supervision group (sometimes I have two running as I like to keep the group size relatively small). It requires a 6 month or 12 month commitment and meets online once per month. There is the option to meet in person once annually and the locations change for this meet up. Full details can be found HERE.
I do very limited regular ongoing individual supervision. If you are interested, book a 30-minute intro session HERE to discuss.
I do one-off supervision sessions on issues relating to kink, BDsM, non-monogamy of all types, sexual orientation, identity and gender. These are usually taken up by people who are stuck on an issue with a client or need more information about one of these areas. If you are interested in a session, email loribeth@drloribethbisbey.com and please put supervision in the subject line.
I do media training for therapists, coaches and educators. More information can be found HERE
I have provided expert witness assessments in court since 1988 and in the UK since 1991 primarily in the family courts. I have worked in public and private law cases. At present, I limit my expert witness work to cases that have issues around gender, sex and relationship diversity. I also provide continuing professional development for legal professionals and professionals associated with the courts and legal systems on gender, sex and relationship diversity. If you require an assessment, please email loribeth@drloribethbisbey.com with assessment in the subject line. Sign up for my newsletter for information on the CPD or look under courses to see what is available at present to purchase.
There are a number of self-guided courses ranging from £37 to £4997. Some of these contain a face-to-face component included in the course fee. They can be found on the self-guided courses page HERE
Questions about How Dr Lori Beth Works
I have a BSc from Boston University in Special Education with a minor in Psychology, an MA and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology – San Diego, a post-graduate diploma in forensic medicine and science from the Society of Apothecaries, a certificate in whole person coaching (two year course) from Coach Training World, and am an accredited advanced GSRD therapist from Pink Therapy.
I am registered with the HCPC, a member of ICF and am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. I adhere to the code of ethics for the British Psychological Society.
I have advanced training in the treatment of trauma including using Metapsychology and Traumatic Incident Reduction (I co-authored a book on this HERE), and advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I engage in regular continuing professional development and have professional supervision. I have professional liability insurance. A copy of my full CV is available upon request (It is a long document).
I am both. Coaching tends to look at the present and the future, is often action oriented and looks to make sure that the client has the skills they need to manifest the life they desire (including to resolve difficulties along the way). Therapy tends to look more at helping people to resolve things from the past so that they can both better understand how they got here and move forward into a future that is one that they are choosing instead of one that is hampered by triggers, outmoded ideas and beliefs from the past.
I use therapy when appropriate and coaching when appropriate. I explain to clients what I am choosing to do and why and often discuss various methods and techniques with them. I am pragmatic which means I use what I think will work best for each individual client.
Above all, I am pragmatic which means I use what I think will work best for any given client. At heart, I am existential and one of my largest influences is Irvin Yalom. He is known for being present as a human being in his sessions with his clients, for integrating some philosophy into psychotherapy which is called psychosophy. My training included existential psychotherapy (and a supervisor who was existential), group therapy, Jungian therapy, systemic family therapy, and cognitive therapy. I am non-judgmental and directive. I think it important to provide some structure in therapy and hold the space so the client can go where they need to go and not have to keep track of the time and the space.
I have specific advanced training in the treatment of trauma and use Traumatic Incident Reduction and EMDR most often.
This depends upon what we are doing. I work intensively with some people which involves working for a full day or over a few days to a week and then revisiting issues a month later. Working intensively allows a person to shut out the outside world so that they can focus on the issues without the world triggering new issues each week. Intensive work is very effective when working with trauma.
I work with people weekly, twice per week and fortnightly. I don’t like to work with people less often as momentum gets lost so everything takes a lot longer. The exception to this is when I have a client doing lots of experiments in the world and they need time to be able to try things out.
With my subscription clients, the amount of time per week we spend depends upon the things they are working on. We spend time working on transforming their lives, resolving issues from the past, creating goals for the future with an emphasis on larger goals, building the skills, plans to reach these goals and engaging in the activities that facilitate the transformation.
I do not use a 50 minute hour. My sessions are either an hour, 90 minutes, two hours or unfixed in time. Unfixed sessions are ones in which we work until we reach a good place to stop the session – a place where something has been resolved or understood, where a person is feeling at least neutral and where their attention has moved back into the world (and outside of their heads and emotions). I set aside 2 to 3 hours when I plan a session like this and I charge for the time we use not the time I set aside.
This depends upon what we are doing. However, I am known to be straightforward and sometimes people say I am blunt. I tend to give homework for coaching clients and sometimes for therapy clients.

Yes with a couple of notable exceptions:
1. If you are threatening to harm someone
2. If you there is a suspicion of child sexual abuse or endangerment
3. If you are threatening to harm yourself.
4. You talk about committing a future crime (or one in the present).
In all these cases, I would still discuss the situation with you prior to reporting anything and encourage you to do the things necessary to become safe and to make any reports necessary yourself.
Past crimes are not reportable and your confidence will be kept. Your confidence will be kept in all other situations.
I use case examples in teaching, speaking and writing and these are always amalgams and I have still gotten permission to use the information in amalgam form.
I do speak about clients in supervision and the supervisor is bound to keep confidentiality as well. I don’t use identifying details.
Written information is kept according to GDP and ICO policies. My notes are only identifiable to me and are as sparse as possible – only recording what I need for my memory. In cases where compliance with therapy needs to be documented, the notes will focus on that.
