Modern Guide to Breaking Up Ebook

This short ebook gives some advice and exercises to help you make your way through a breakup in ways that will minimise animosity and drama and make it far more likely that you will move through with grace and aplomb.

Breaking up, especially when a relationship has been long and/or intense, can be gut wrenching and cause havoc in all parts of our lives.  The temptation is to fight it out or to ghost someone.  However, taking the time to end things properly, get closure where you can and giving yourself the time to grieve will lead to better relationships in future and also the possibility, where appropriate, to a friendship between you and your ex.

In some cases, using a coach or therapist to help you through the breakup, to facilitate your discussions, will give you a much better outcome.  After all, if you could sort it out without external help, you would have done it already.  Having someone who has no skin in the game (eg is not personally interested in the outcome) to guide you means that you are more likely to move in directions that will work best for you both and less likely to get stuck indefinitely in destructive thinking or emotions.

Even if a partner is unwilling to go through this process with you, there is value in spending time moving through this process and reflecting on the relationship and the breakup.  Closure can be achieved even without the input of the other party.  If you don’t take the time to review, analyse and grieve, you run the risk of repeating patterns and creating another relationship that ultimately will fail for the same reasons.  If you find you have a pattern of similar relationships, consider engaging in my self-guided course Create Your Ideal Relationship.
